21.WHY I OPPOSE PULWAMA INCIDENT? DR SHABIR CHOUDHRY

1. Many people are trying to justify the Pulwama tragic incident under a freedom struggle, a right of defence and the UN resolutions. They forget that there are numerous international covenants, protocols and Resolutions, especially put in place after 9/11, to oppose this kind of action and combat it.

2. Apart from that, there is a big difference between a genuine freedom struggle, and a proxy war based on extremist views, religious hatred and intolerance.

3. To rub salt in wounds of the people of Jammu and Kashmir; the country that violated a written agreement, and waged a war against Jammu and Kashmir in October 1947 to occupy our motherland, has presented itself as a well - wisher and a supporter of our struggle, while occupying territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

4. Thinking people of Jammu and Kashmir understand their hypocrisy and game plan. They know that they have sponsored this proxy war to advance their foreign policy and strategic agenda.

5. Additionally, the act was carried out by a member of the extremist group that is a proscribed organisation by the UN and many other countries, including Pakistan.

6. Also, the act was not carried out for the independence of territory of Jammu and Kashmir, but to make it part of Pakistan, a country that is regarded as ‘epic centre of terrorism’ by many international organisations and experts.

7. Besides that, the act is against interests of citizens of Jammu and Kashmir, and against their peaceful struggle for unification and independence of Jammu and Kashmir.

8. Moreover, the act was committed to promote extremism, intolerance and religious hatred, and erect walls of abhorrence and animosity that will keep people in constant state of war to provide justification to the redundant Two Nations Theory that Muslims and Hindus cannot live together in the same country.

9. They create a situation in Jammu and Kashmir and in India, where para military forces and extremists react and target Muslims. Their vengeance helps the planners of these acts of violence and terrorism to promote their agenda on national and international level.

10. Also, the planners of this incident wanted to divide people of Jammu and Kashmir on religious lines in order to pave way for the permanent division of the former Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir on religious lines.

11. Furthermore, the act is against Islamic teaching, and this view is endorsed by many world renowned Islamic scholars.

12. Jameeat Ulema e Hind unanimously expressed their opposition to this, and called it an act of terrorism. They asserted that it was un- Islamic act, and was designed to harm Muslims.

13. They also said this act has made lives of millions of Kashmiris and Indian Muslims potential targets of police, secret agencies and Hindu and Sikh extremists.

14. It has endangered the liberty and dignity of our daughters.

15. Liberty and dignity of our wives and sisters can also be potential targets.

16. Our houses can be potential targets for a possible revenge.

17. Shops and other businesses of Muslims can be potential targets.

18. Future and interests of Muslim students and children is also endangered.
